Advent's Music for Voice, Saxophone and Organ

The trio of Ieva Parša, Artis Sīmanis and Kristīne Adamaite will perform under the vaults of St. John’s Church offering the audience Advent time atmosphere through the scores of Latvian composers. The concert will feature a new work written by Raimonds Pauls specially for this cast of performers, one of the rare saxophone concertos in Latvian music – Cantus orationis by Rihards Dubra, pastorals of organ by Jāzeps Vītols and Tālivaldis Ķeniņš, and a cycle for voice, saxophone and organ “Cerības cereņš” (Lilac of Hope) by Andrejs Selickis where the composer, through the prism of a lilac, meditates on the themes of eternity and coexistence of life and death.
