European Christmas. Mendelssohn’s Symphony and Ravel’s Piano Concerto
The young Latvian conductor Andris Poga will perform together with Sinfonietta Rīga for the first time – his professional mastership was highly appreciated in Paris and Boston. Andris will conduct Symphony No. 1 by Felix Mendelssohn, written by the composer at the age of 15; Sinfonietta by Francis Poulenc resembling Haydn’s crystal-clear music; and the Piano Concerto in G major by Maurice Ravel with solo by intuitively wise Elīna Bērtiņa, the introduction and conclusion of the piece bristling with joviality and the central part bearing unworldly beauty.
