European Christmas. Sergejs Jēgers. Christmas Music

The programme is based on the hits of the album Ave Maria recorded in the Riga Dom Cathedral last year and issued by “Latvijas Koncerti”.  Sergejs Jēgers says, ““Yesterday is the past, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift” – already for many years these words inspire me and make me think of giving as the greatest and most beautiful present, or gift. In case a man has a great deal of something, no pleasure is greater than to grant to others a part of what you have received yourself. My voice is a gift from God, which does not belong to me alone, and therefore, I am happy of being able to share it.”

The concert will feature Ave Maria by Bach – Gounod, Ave Maria by Tosti, aria Dignare from Handel’s cantata Dettingen Te Deum, and other popular and favoured sacral opuses. For enjoying the atmosphere of the First Christmas day the soloist has promised to include the most beautiful Christmas melodies in the programme. “Each prayer is a talk with God, and my talk with God occurs in music,” Sergejs says and invites the audience to the concert; the organ will be played by Diāna Jaunzeme with whom the singer has regular creative cooperation.
